    Intentional Cultivation: Dating Again

Intentional cultivation—the act of growing, raising, educating, or bettering something on purpose. One skill I was most definitely not gifted with was that of a green thumb…everything I plant dies. Even a cactus has perished under my care. I really have no defense here…apparently, plants require watering, weeding, pruning, proper amounts of sunlight, etc. Thus far, my approach of “plant it and watch it grow” has remained ineffective. You reap what you sow. Galatians 6:7 Just like plants, we can’t expect to have relationships grow when we don’t tend to them properly. My marriage has been in a tough season; I consider it “winter”…harsh, cold, elements not favorable to growing.…

    The 5 Love Languages

Have you ever found yourself being presented with a theme or idea throughout your day-to-day without you seeking that information? Does that make sense? I have had the love languages permeate my life recently; much like after you Google a product or place and what you searched for pops up all over your Instagram and Facebook accounts! The difference in this situation is that I didn’t go searching for the five love languages; they found me! The 5 Love Languages, written by Dr. Gary Chapman, was first mentioned by my best friend’s husband, though I don’t remember exactly why. I remember thinking (this was months ago) how cool it was…

    Blessings Un-Disguised

I love October—the beautiful colors of the changing leaves, pumpkin doughnuts readily available in stores, cooler temps that mean I can finally wear my cute jeans and sweaters, pumpkin doughnuts, apple picking with the family, pumpkin doughnuts…. Plus, some of the best things in my family’s lives have happened in October. My husband proposed to me in October, our anniversary and several family birthdays are celebrated this month, and both houses we’ve lived in were bought in October. It seems to be our month.  But although it’s in the same spot on the calendar each year, October sneaks up on me and causes me to panic. Every. Single. Year. It…

    From Desperation to Salvation

This is probably going to be different from any of my other blogs, and I think that is okay. To be honest, I wasn’t very keen on writing this particular one so soon, as we are still getting to know each other, and one’s testimony can be very raw and vulnerable. However, as I kept pushing this subject out of my mind and brought other topics to the Lord, He impressed upon me that this was the one He wanted me to share. So, in obedience, here I am. Let me start by saying that I do not remember very much of my childhood. And I am not talking about…

    Guard Your Hope

This blog post has been etched on my heart for many years, and I am so excited to share what I believe is a message every believer needs to hear. It’s a lesson the Lord reminds me of so often and is something that I have discussed with my friends and family at length over the years. So, I pray that you feel challenged and encouraged by what I feel the Lord wants you to hear today.   According to the Myers-Briggs personality assessment, I am an ENFP. I am the extrovert of all extroverts. I am enthusiastic, outgoing, spontaneous, impulsive, energetic, empathetic and, at times, spastic. God made me…

Sometimes We All Need A Little Push

Let’s face it, no matter where you are on your journey in this life, nearly all of us have experienced isolation. Isolation, by definition, is to be removed from or apart from or having minimal contact with others. There are many ways we can find ourselves isolated; we may find we are isolated from social environments, isolated financially, isolated from being in a work atmosphere, or even geographically isolated having been relocated or moved. While I knew growing my family would change the dynamics of our home and social life, some of the isolation I’ve felt at different times certainly wasn’t anything I was prepared for. Let me just first…
