See Giants Fall Part 1: Made to Win

For the Lord your God is He who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.” Deuteronomy 20:4 (ESV; emphasis mine)

What do you think about when you hear the phrase, “Giants Fall?”  Do you think of the Underdog about to take down the Champion in a competition or a fight?  Is your giant a person, perhaps a family member or a colleague, who slings insults to keep you from rising higher than they do, or to remind you of a past failure?  Do you think of obstacles and circumstances that need to be overcome when you think of conquering giants? Or, is your giant Satan himself who seems to throw hardship after hardship in your path to distract, discourage, and destroy what God has started in your life?  Maybe your Giant is something that you can’t control, like time, always sending you into a frenzy to accomplish a “must-do” list before the sun goes down, or before you will give yourself a break. This brings us to the most difficult Giant of all, ourselves.

How many of us crush our own spirits with attitudes of defeat before we even start, repeating self-sabotaging narratives of how unworthy, unloved, untalented, unimportant, or unwanted we are?  How many of us hold ourselves to unrealistic, and even unimaginable, standards that seem to taunt us in the world of Picture Perfect Pinterest?? How many of us lie to ourselves that we are what we do or what we are able to give to others, instead of celebrating our God-given uniqueness, flaws, and talents alike?  How many of us strive to prove ourselves worthy, protect our image, or please someone who couldn’t care less what is in our best interest? How many of us run ourselves ragged until we collapse in a heap of exhaustion, or sickness, before we honor ourselves, and our God, with the ability to say, “No,” or, “I’d love to, but I can’t right now”?

Y’all, I am a Queen at all of the above!  That’s why I have so much content to write about!  HA-HA! It really does make me chuckle when I think of how many ways I have allowed my Perspective to interfere with what God has planned for me by focusing on the wrong, or simply less important, things in life!  I’ve been duped, more than once, by lies of the enemy or lies that I have created on my own in my own head! I’ve gotten stuck staring at circumstances, people, and self-imposed incorrect perceptions instead of LIVING the better life God has planned for me.  What’s the Good News in this rant, you ask? The Good News is that God is ALWAYS GOOD and God is ALWAYS Patient!

You see, God has been teaching me that it doesn’t really matter WHO or WHAT your giant is!  All of your giants have one thing in common and that is YOU! The Good News is that Jesus came and humbled Himself to the point of Death on a Cross for imperfect people like us!  That means YOU have something bigger and better than yourself.  You have God! In fact, the Word says:

“But you belong to God, my dear children.  You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”  (1 John 4:4 NLT; emphasis mine)

It also says that:

No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment.  This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD.” (Isaiah 54:17 ESV; emphasis mine)

Now, trust me when I say that this is a lesson in progress!  I write this at a time when my faith is weak, and

I am on the brink of either breaking through or giving up.  I believe that the proof of the breakthrough is in the massive onslaught of Giants trying to intimidate me into quitting!  The year, or so, that I’ve been writing, I have experienced one giant after another and I AM TIRED! I have also seen INCREDIBLE MIRACLES along the way, and I have had some of my own chains break free!

I can hear Satan chant in my ear, “You might as well give up!  It will NEVER happen for you! Stop hoping, stop trying, stop thinking that God’s plans are for you now, or in the future!  You are broken! You are worn! And You are done! This is as good as it gets!”

At the exact same time, I hear God saying, “I’ve got you, Girl!  KEEP GOING!! YOU ARE ALMOST THERE! What is on the other side of this breakthrough is the Peace and the Confidence that you have asked for!  TRUST ME! You are almost to the milk and honey! Don’t worry about the size of Giants! I have equipped you and trained you, and you are ready!  You were made for such a time as this just as Queen Esther was in her time! Let’s go to war and finish this thing AND LET’S HAVE FUN in the process!!!  BE CONFIDENT, my Daughter, for it is I, THE GREAT I AM, fighting for you! If I made you a promise, I will bring it to fruition. You just need time to develop the skills needed to handle the blessings that are to come.  Start in gratitude where you are, and the rest will unfold! Quiet the chatter and LET’S GO!!! You do your best, and I will handle the REST!”

This mental battle brings me to the title of our articles for this month, “See Giants Fall.”  I believe that God is asking me to learn from 3 Biblical greats and apply what they did in order to be able to kill my own Giants.  Since the common factor in all of my battles is myself, only I can walk out the journey given to me. My journey looks and sounds different than someone else’s race, but we can all do what Joshua, Old Testament Joseph, and King David did.  We can carry our cross with Grace and Truth, and not only run our race but win it too! I believe that in order to break the chains of what’s holding you back, you must learn how to:

    1. Fix your focus on a Godly Perspective and Promise.
    1. Work with Perseverance where you are planted and Trust God that you are planted there for a purpose bigger than what you can see.
    1. Step into your Position with calm confidence when you are called to do what only you were designed to do.

Over the next three weeks, I will take you on a journey through the circumstances of Joshua, Old Testament Joseph, and King David to show how God uses perspective, perseverance, and position to help you claim your own promises! It takes all three skills, woven together, to crush your giants and walk into your own promised land of victory! If you have ever found yourself longing for Peace or Confidence that extends past your circumstances, then stay tuned as we end 2019 with the keys to Conquering Fear with the Faith to walk in Freedom.  Until then, remember that YOU ARE:

~A Child of God

~Made on Purpose

~Made For a Purpose

~Wonderfully and Fearfully Designed to be Uniquely YOU

~More Than Enough

~Strong and Courageous

~More Than a Conqueror

With Christ by your side!

Hallelujah and Amen my Friends!
