    I QUIT!!!

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”  (Galatians 6:9 NLT) “Yep, you heard me, I QUIT!!!!”  Does that surprise you?  I QUIT!!  Truth be told, I actually do quit on a regular basis.  For you, I wonder what images pop into your head when you hear the phrase “I QUIT!”?  Do you see someone storming out of a job fed up with the treatment?  Do you see someone in the middle of a workout collapsing to the floor in bodily defeat?  Maybe you see someone, hopeless, putting an end to…

    Finding Comfort in the Chaos

“Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”  Psalms 55:22 Chaos.  That’s the only way that I can describe this past season. The chaos that I have been experiencing, not just in the Covid Crazy, but also before that, has forced me to face my beliefs and myself.  While I still maintain that I’d prefer a more simple and more uneventful life, I am starting to look at chaos, and it’s beautiful opportunities, in a whole new light.  Chaos has a way of pushing us, or at least me, to my breaking points.  It has a way of taking…

See Giants Fall Part 6: The Conclusion- Down Goes the Giant!

All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” (1st Samuel 17:47 NIV)  “Ladies and Gentlemen…. ARE YOU READY TO RUUUMMMBBLLEEE?!?!?!”  Yes, my friends.  It is time!  It is time to take down the Giants once and for all.  While the Giants for each of us might be different, God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  I should warn you that this journey of faith is not for the faint of heart.  You will have to be BOLD and DEFIANT against the “norm” and…

See Giants Fall Part 5: Preparing For Battle

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Ephesians 6:11 NIV)  Boy, Oh Boy! When I first started writing this series, I’ll tell you what! I was excited! I even squealed with anticipation and joy at its name and of God’s revelation to me. After 2019, I was like, “YAAAAASSSSSSS!!! See Giants Fall…FINALLY!” This just goes to show how married I am to the idea of comfort and how loving God is to be patient with the development of my character! Let’s just say, God’s idea of progress and mine might have a different interpretation of what it “should” or…

See Giants Fall Part 4: The Power of Perseverance

Well, friends, sometimes writing makes me want to kick, scream, and throw a tantrum like my son when he wants to play instead of clean his room!  Don’t get me wrong, my son is a WONDERFUL blessing in my life.  He would simply prefer the FUN over the FUNCTIONAL.  I find that I am a lot like that with God.  You see, this blog series has been 18 months in the making.  I didn’t mind writing about the times when God would miraculously solve my problems, or the times when God helped me to see the celebrations and growth of life.  However, when I know God is correcting me or…

    Stepping Out…

The past seven months have been filled with transitions, and so I thought, “Why not one more step toward change? Why not shoot for the stars?” So here goes—for the longest time, I’ve wanted to write and share with others. I see it as a way to share a journey of self-discovery and vulnerability. Not sure who would want to read what I have to offer, but the way I see it, I’d much rather know I pursued a dream than go day after day, dreaming, but not even trying to take a tiny step of faith. But here’s the thing—over the years, I’ve learned a few things about pursuing…

    Jumpstart to Joy!

“Those who have been ransomed by the LORD will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.”  (Isaiah 51:11 NLT) Happy New Year to all and to all a year of cheer!  Nice little rhyme, right? Too bad life doesn’t always make it easy to sit in cheerfulness! I don’t know about you, but I went into 2019 with Great Expectations!  Literally. I wrote about it and learned about it, yet with each passing month of 2019, new obstacles, new challenges and new circumstances pushed me to the brink of myself!  Little did I…

See Giants Fall- Part 2: Adjust Your Lens

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.  (Romans 12:2 NIV) I don’t know how many of you are like me, flopping back and forth between the thoughts in my head, the Truth in my heart, and the circumstances that I see around me.  Sometimes I find that all three are in alignment, and other times my head, my heart, and my circumstances seem to be in battle! Which one wins depends on something super simple, my FOCUS.  Whatever I pay attention to…

See Giants Fall Part 1: Made to Win

“For the Lord your God is He who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.” Deuteronomy 20:4 (ESV; emphasis mine) What do you think about when you hear the phrase, “Giants Fall?”  Do you think of the Underdog about to take down the Champion in a competition or a fight?  Is your giant a person, perhaps a family member or a colleague, who slings insults to keep you from rising higher than they do, or to remind you of a past failure?  Do you think of obstacles and circumstances that need to be overcome when you think of conquering giants? Or, is…

Into the Wilderness Part 3: Power Before the Promised Land

“Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  (Joshua 1:9 NIV) I don’t know a person who hasn’t found themselves wandering through a Wilderness at some point in their lives.  Between childhood and adulthood, life will hit with an arsenal of unfair and uncontrollable circumstances. Some people I know, myself included, have travelled through multiple iterations of various Wilderness seasons.  Health issues, loss and grief, moving, identity challenges, peer pressure, financial difficulty, job stress, parenting, social media comparison traps, and relational issues can cause a person to be stranded…
