    Mom. Mommy. Mother. Mama. Mum.

Happy Monday! Hello to all of you readers. I hope all the Mom’s out there had a WONDERFUL day, doing whatever it is that makes you truly happy, refreshed and energized. This was my second Mother’s Day ever, and it was full of family, love, laughter and good food. A typical Sunday for us starts out with our wonderful church in Richmond, IN. Though it isn’t a registered ARC church, it does follow the same principals, the same structure, and even receives assistance from other ARC churches and the corporate office. I say that just to give you an idea of what “kind” of church we attend – as there…

A Mess too Big to Bless?

It’s a Monday…again. I knew it was coming back—it does every week. Mondays are like the movie “Groundhog Day” around here. Laundry needs folded, dishes need washed, and even though I recall cleaning the house thoroughly just seven days ago, there is no evidence of that anywhere. I am in my typical Monday-state of rushing from room to room collecting misplaced items to return to their proper homes when I step in something wet as I enter the living room. I take a deep breath before I brave investigating the source of my now-damp sock. “Please don’t be pee,” I say to myself, as I look down to discover a…

It Won’t Be Like This For Long

There are a lot of things that can be used to test our patience. Am I right? Just take a minute to think about it, and then stand back as the floodgate of examples in your life pours down on you. Right now, I am living in the land of toddlerdom, where I am crusading in unfamiliar territory on the daily, the tantrums come by the hour, and the lessons in patience come by the minute. I’m sure you have heard all of the familiar maxims: “The days go slow, but the years go fast.” “It will only be like this for a short time.” “You can do anything for…

    Everyday Gestures of Love

Love is in the air! As the month of February approaches, everyone gets ready for Valentine’s Day. Some exchange cards, purchase overpriced flowers, and there is candy galore! As far back as I can remember, we exchanged valentines at school, and my parents got us a small gift and a card expressing sweet thoughts.   Some people call it a Hallmark-created holiday to elicit more spending on cards, flowers, and candy. Over the years, even single people have embraced the holiday, and now, ladies even do “Galentine’s Day” events! My oldest daughter switched schools this year, and Valentine’s Day is a big deal there! Parents are encouraged to order balloons…

    Love Through Fingerprints (Part 2)

Happy Valentine’s Day!  I am hoping you all can take a moment and reach out to anyone you think may be in need of a kind word, hug, or high-five! We have really come to enjoy Valentine’s Day at our house. My husband and I exchange something small most years (gift card, flowers, card, date night). Our focus is on our sweet girls! Monte brought them balloons and I have chocolate heart suckers and bubble wands to give them when our oldest gets off of the bus. Of course, they get Dove chocolate hearts from their Nonn and Nonna every year! Dove chocolates are ALWAYS a favorite at the Edwards’…

    Love Through Fingerprints (Part 1)

Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day! While praying over what to write about for my blog entry this month, I kept coming up blank. Perhaps the pressure of posting on Valentine’s Day was getting in my head! I considered writing about love, marriage, friendship, and similar topics related to this Hallmark holiday; however, every subject that came to my mind fell flat in my heart. When preparing for my blog entries, I pray about what God wants me to write about. When I am going through challenges in my life, I pray writing about them brings clarity to me. I pray sharing my difficulties allows others to feel they are not alone…

    Life’s Little Helpers

Hi all! Lindsay here. My last post was all about staying flexible in your day-to-day. Life is all about balance—your relationship with God, your relationships with your family, your work life, and your social life. In order to do that, we are all seeking things of this world to bring about that wonderful balance. I’d love to share a few products, apps, or systems we use as a family to keep our balance. We certainly do not have a perfect system, so if you have any other great ideas or concepts you use, please share! Here are a few favorites of ours: Praise Baby. I commute an hour to work…

    Finding the Overflow

How many times has your mind jumped to the worst possible solution when a problem arises? You notice pain in your stomach, and your first instinct is to go to Google, and it convinces you that you have some sort of cancer or major ailment? When your child wakes up with a fever, does your mind instantly go to the fact that they have the most rare form of an infection or virus? Or you look down and see you’ve missed a call from your boss, and your mind automatically goes to the fact that you must be in trouble for something? If I’m being honest, this is me like…

    The Game of Accomplishments

Another year has gone by, and, if you are a lot like me, you are wondering, “Where did it go?” Every year, my head swirls with questions that pop up like a mid-summer afternoon thunderstorm. Questions like, did I accomplish what I wanted, what my family wanted, what everyone expects of me? Guys, I’m 56 years old, and these questions still pop up in my head. Crazy as it seems, I’m really not a goal-oriented person, but year after year, I still ponder what I accomplished last year and what I want or need to accomplish this year.   I decided after years and years of these New Year’s questions,…

    Faithful Provider

Are you praying for something so fervently in your life, but you feel like God isn’t listening? Are you in the middle of your season and losing faith that you’re ever getting out of it? Do you hope with every fiber of your being for God to change a situation, but, in actuality, doubt God’s power or that He will ACTUALLY show up and do anything? If I’m honest with myself, I’ve struggled with putting all my faith, or maybe even any faith, in God to handle things in my life. I’m logical, and I’m a realist. I deduct the best possible outcome and go from there. As a child…
